Versaperm manufactures
gas permeability testing equipment, offers a comprehensive permeability
testing service and a packaging materials consultancy. These are used
to measure gas permeability and package leakage , important in medical
and pharmaceutical packaging, foils and films, coatings, food and
confectionery packaging and contents, and a variety of other applications.

VI Permeability Meters
The Versaperm MKVI permeability meter instruments are based on
a modular approach which is designed to ease customisation. Thus
each instrument is built with a variety of options to suit the
customer and their particular application. This is achieved at
prices which are competitive with mass-produced instruments.
The instruments can be configured for up to three standard sized
chamber modules, either for flat samples such as films, or for
containers. Both come in a range of sizes.

The chamber modules are housed in
a temperature controlled cabinet, which may be chilled if required.
The range of gases which are suitable for permeability measurement
is limited only by sensors being commercially available, and cost.
Although we manufacture some sensors ourselves, for most gases
we are able to utilise the current best available sensors for
each application. Therefore we have alliances with several leading
gas detection companies which operate around the world.

Gravimetric
Methods
As an example of our producing instruments designed
to meet a specific need, the instrument on the right is a specialised
water bath designed to comply with ISO15496. This method is used
for measuring water vapour permeability of permeable fabrics,
and represents an alternative to instrumental techniques. |

We also produce cups for gravimetric
measurements, made of stainless steel or anodised aluminium. These
are sealed using finger screws, simplifying sample preparation and
eliminating wax sealing. Where the method requires wax sealing,
we sell a grade of wax that provides an excellent water vapour barrier
(see consumables). |
