A DUEL INSTRUMENT TAKES THE BISCUIT

Permeability leaders Versaperm has introduced a new multi-chamber instrument to measure the water vapour permeability of biscuit (and other food) packaging - to a few ppm or better.

The permeability of a biscuit’s packaging plays a critical role in both its shelf life and quality. The best packaging enhances a product and boosts sales – but, currently the UK wastes over £100M pa through spoiled product.

Versaperm’s, new WVTR (Water Vapour Transmission) meter can measure the permeability of both materials and finished packages, easing the never-ending quest for effective products with new marketing and technical features.

The new MKVI WVTR meter can measure the water vapour permeability of almost any material and unlike conventional gravimetric measurements which take days or even weeks, it can produce results in as little as 30 minutes in some materials.

The meter offers highly automated computerised control and is capable of coping with several samples at a time, giving results that can be accurate to a few part per million (with some samples a few parts per hundred million).

Versaperm also offers a laboratory testing service for companies who test too few samples to make the purchase of equipment viable.
