Versaperm, which specialises in permeability technologies, has introduced the WVTR VI, as an ideal way to bring reliability and quality control to containers and systems that rely on powders.

Powders can create massive problems - if even small amounts of water are present – they not only clog and block everything from nozzles to asthma inhalers, but their physical and chemical properties can permanently change.

Surprisingly, the biggest cause of problems is not water as a liquid, but as a vapour – where it can pass through a huge range of waterproof materials, and barriersoften with hardly a check. It can find its way through seals, O rings, screw threads as well as into enclosures, bottles and containers.

Versaperm’s, new WVTR meter measures both the permeability of raw sheet materials as well as, seals, enclosures, containers etc. Unlike gravimetric measurements, which take days or even weeks, it can produce results in as little as 30 minutes. This eases the never-ending quest for effective products with new marketing and technical features.

The new instrument offers highly automated computerised control and can be configured to cope with multiple samples at a time, giving results that can be accurate to a few part per million (with some samples a few parts per hundred million).

Versaperm also offers a laboratory testing service for companies who test too few samples to make the purchase of equipment viable.
