Versaperm Vapour Permeability measurement

Airtightness & Vapour flow in Concrete

Testing vapour Permeability - high altitude testing for packaged dry goods

Mistakes made in using vapour barriers and concrete are leading to an increase in moisture related problems. Vapour barriers that were intended to stop structures from getting wet often prevent them from drying out and have led to the collapse of several ancient buildings - which had survived perfectly well until a modern concrete coatings were added to "protect them!"

Technology leader Versaperm has introduced a permeability measurement system that can measure this critical (and legally required) factor quickly and accurately.  It works with both concrete and other building products, and even for complete structural elements.

The basic principle of water control is easy.  Keep water in its vapour form out, and when it gets in, let it out. That sounds easy – but it becomes complicated as the best barriers, designs and strategies for keeping water vapour out, can simultaneously trap water vapour in.

Traditionally, measuring permeability is expensive and can take weeks, but with the latest product range from Versaperm it has now become much faster (as little as 30 minutes for some products) and less costly.

Versaperm's permeability meters range can measure the permeability of anything from a single vapour barrier through to a complete wall structure, including laminates, paints, timber, roofing felts, adhesives, building boards, mastics and other sealing or structural materials.

With their with their latest range of sensors, results are typically accurate in the parts per million range and the equipment can optionally measure this not just for water vapour but also for CO2, hydrocarbons, oxygen and virtually any other gas or vapour.
The flow of air and moisture can directly affect the "health" of both the building and of the people who live or work inside.  Moisture build-up has been linked to dust mites, asthma, allergies and sick-building syndrome.

Versaperm is a world-technology leader and offers not just equipment but also a fast turn-around building products lab testing service.  Results from our testing service are typically produced within 24 hours.
