Industrial seals, gaskets, O-rings, enclosures and mastics sometimes let whole products down.  Although they are excellent at keeping out water and oils as liquids, they often allow vapours to pass through nearly unchecked. Versaperm’s new permeability meter is a fast and simple way to check if the seal will work properly as it can measure not just the permeability of the sealing material but also of the completed product or component as well.

Both water and hydrocarbon vapours can be highly invasive and cause billions of pounds of problems and waste in the UK every year.

The meter can deal with several samples at a time, often producing results within 30 minutes – conventional gravimetric measurement techniques usually take over a week to produce a single reading.

The meter needs no re-calibration and requires, at most, minimal training to give measurements that is typically accurate to around a few parts per million for most vapours and materials.

A wide range of options is available and a variety of sensors can be supplied - from those specific to water vapour or hydrocarbons, through to sensors that can measure virtually any compound.   Single and multi-sample systems are available for testing samples from the size of a thimble up to a pallet load and beyond.

As well as manufacturing the instruments, Versaperm offers a vapour permeability laboratory service for companies that need to test samples on an irregular basis.
