Versaperm Vapour Permeability measurement

MVTR PRESS RELEASE

A MEASUREMENT THAT’S TOO OFTEN MIST
Water vapour permeability lab equipment

Water vapour is omnipresent and insidious. It needs to be kept into some areas and out of others, it causes reactions to speed up (or slowdown), process equipment to fail, it causes biological and physical changes and costs the UK over £100M every year.

Part of the problem is that people think it is the same as liquid water. It isn’t. A perfect barrier to the one may offer virtually no hindrance to the other. And that’s where Versaperm comes in. Versaperm is a world technology leader in water vapour permeability and transmission measurement and has produced a WVTR meter that can measure most materials and containers – often in as little as 30 minutes – as opposed to the days or weeks needed with conventional gravimetric techniques.

Sensitivities are in the range 0.05 – 3200g/m2/day and accuracy is typically a few parts per million - and can be to within a few parts per hundred million for some samples. The meter can cope with several samples at a time, is simple to use and gives a series of digital readouts that can be recorded or simply read off the LCD screen. It needs no re-calibration and requires, at most, minimal training.

Versaperm’s WVTR meter can be used on huge range of materials and enclosures – from foil laminates through to tubing and from paint to packaging and even on to missiles! It can also provide measurements of substances that might otherwise be decomposed by normal water content measuring techniques.

As well as manufacturing the instruments, Versaperm also offers a water vapour permeability laboratory service for companies that need to test samples on an irregular basis.
