Industry relies heavily on paints, coatings and finishes to protect equipment, machinery, products and structures from corrosion, condensation, damage and also to stop water or oils getting in to the wrong place.  These coatings act as vapour barriers – but once applied their barrier properties are usually very different from their theoretical values – simply due to the application process and conditions.

This causes serious problems, and the only way to eliminate them is by checking the values once the coatings are in place.  Traditionally this has been a difficult, time-consuming, expensive and sometimes impossible task, but now, due to recent developments at Versaperm the task has become easy and accurate – often producing a measurement in as little as thirty minutes which, before, could have taken weeks.

Versaperm’s new and highly sensitive permeability meter is simple to use and can produce results in as little as thirty minutes for some materials and gases.  Accuracies are typically in the parts per million range, (PPM).  The equipment is unusual as it can measure anything from thin coatings to complete components, products and even structures.

The equipment can optionally measure permeability for gases including water vapour, helium, hydrogen, hydrocarbons, solvents, oxygen, carbon dioxide and most other gases. It includes new and highly sensitive ranges of sensors, improved computer control and both single and multiple chamber options, allowing the user to process several samples at a time.

The company also offers a sample testing service and technical consultancy.
