The printability, mechanical handling and barrier properties of paper and packaging are largely determined by their permeability.  Relatively small changes to the makeup of a coating can result in disproportionately large changes.

Thanks to Versaperm, measuring this has become a lot easier, not just with respect to water vapour, but also, oxygen, nitrogen, CO2, hydrocarbons and most other gases or vapours.

Versaperm’s new permeability equipment is fast and reliable– producing results that are accurate in the parts per million range, (parts per billion with some gases).  Conventional techniques take several days to produce these results, but Versaperm’s latest equipment and sensors take from as little as 30 minutes for many samples.

A wide range of variations and sensors are available, depending on the specific application.  Multi-chamber systems allow measurements to be produced on several samples at a time and different designs and clamping systems cater for various sample types.

As well as manufacturing the instruments, Versaperm offers a permeability laboratory service for companies that need to test samples on an irregular basis.
