Versaperm Vapour Permeability measurement

PRESS RELEASE

LET US SPRAY
…that moisture doesn’t affect our pharmaceutical products

Water vapour can be the omnipresent curse or the saviour of the pharmaceutical industry. It makes powders clog aerosols, it permeates through packaging, plastic and unitary dose blister packs and causes preparations to loose potency. Yet without it, producing sterile products such as syringes, plasters and bandages would be much harder.

The key lies in the way vapour permeability works - which often seems counter-intuitive as some materials are a total barrier to water but allow water vapour to pass through virtually unhindered. The solution is the Versaperm WVTR meter, which can quickly and accurately measure the water vapour permeability of most materials, seals, drug delivery systems, films, coatings or containers. So problems can be stopped before they start.

Versaperm Limited is a world leader in water vapour permeability measurement and its WVTR meter can handle several samples at a time - often give a reading in as little as 30 minutes. Conventional gravimetric measurement techniques take several days and are significantly less accurate.

The meter is easy to use and gives a series of digital readouts that can be recorded or simply read off the LCD screen. It needs no re-calibration and requires, at most, minimal training to give results that are accurate to better than one part per million (with some samples a few parts per hundred million). Sensitivities are in the range 0.05 – 3200g/m2/day.

Versaperm also offers a next day testing service.
